Issue in Easy Edit button.
May 9 2008, 7:24 AM EDT | Post edited: May 9 2008, 7:24 AM EDT
The Easy Edit button is not static on the page, it moves when "What's this" link next to Easy Edit is clicked and there appears to be something cut off under the actual easy edit button itself. I've mailed the screen shot to jeff email id. Do you find this valuable?

Which browser are you using that has the jumping of the EasyEdit button?

The "something" under the EasyEdit button is actually an artifact from the image duplicating itself on the y-axis. If you look carefully, it's the eraser from the pencil on the EasyEdit button. Not good at all, but very interesting. We'll take a look at this and see if we can reproduce it in our environment. If possible, can you send to Jeff a "Save As HTML" version of that page, zipped up with the subfolder of content?

Hopefully, this will help us track down that white square, too.

I've looked at your staging server and identified the problem.

The EasyEdit button is an anchor tag, an inherits all CSS rules you apply to .rightcontents a { }. In the normal state, your anchor has a padding-top of 5px, which is pushing up the background image. I am currently unable to reproduce the "shifting" that you were seeing -- though if I had to guess, I would say it was something with your :hover rules for those anchors.

In general, we try to "sandbox" our elements that require special styling (like the EasyEdit button). This is an example where our sandbox was being affected by your CSS. We are increasing the specificity of our rules and overriding padding on the EasyEdit button, which should fix your problem.

This will go live with tomorrow's push. Let me know if you have any questions.

as of 10:24PST, the cut off image under the "easy edit" button is now gone (yay) although in IE7 it still moves a bit

however, on the pop up window where I get the "Add an Edit Note" if I put datat OR try to "skip" this step I get a pop up windows message that says: Sorry, error completing, pls relead the page and try again

Cannot edit a page now.

I checked out a cell called, "the biggest heat wave," and noticed that it did not have a cell URL -- this could cause the issue we're seeing when the page is saved.

We will look into whether this is something caused by a change in our last update, though it could also be a problem with how the Add A Page API is called -- I couldn't find the Add A Page to test on your staging site, so I can't say for certain.

Thanks for the email -- that helped out a ton.

For tracking, the IE7 image shifting fix should be in the next code update. The Edit Note error is being tracked in another thread.
