when will you be adding "Discuss this page" API to the articles?
May 9 2008, 10:05 PM EDT
Is there any mechanism to allow for users to “discuss” a page? For example, on Wikipedia, there is a discussion page designated for each wiki page that allows users to interact, resolve disputes, etc. Does WTG have any concept of a “discussion” element within a page itself that we can use?thx, kristen Do you find this valuable?

It won't be available for launch, but embeddded threads are under consideration for our next round of feature updates.

Alternatively, a discussion page in Wikipedia is nothing more than another wiki page linked to from the article page. To recreate this functionality, create another page called "discuss" and add a cell on it.To Alex's point, however, we are also considering adding a more integrated option to add threaded discussions to a cell, much like we're using here. True, but also then creates a separate indexable page that will show in the navigation as well as a separate page - can lead to confusion.

Not sure where my post went? This is true but it would then create a new indexable page that could cause user confusion... Do you find this valuable? |

If you do not give that "discuss" page a parent cell, it would not appear in the navigation of any other page. Edits and activity will show up on feeds and usage reports, however.
