pasting fonts
Jun 11 2008, 6:48 PM EDT
Hi, seem to be having a problem with the editor not respecting fonts to see how they display. Did a copy (Word)+paste test using fonts in these font type faces and sizes (obviously not showing correctly here) ARIAL Testing Arial font 10pt VERDANA testing verdana font 12pt Times new roman testing Times 14pt LUCINDA testing Lucinda 12pt IMPACT testing Impact font 12pt They all defaulted to Lucinda Grande 12pt. In the drop down for font types, Verdana is not supported, so we'd expect that to default back to Lucinda. But it showed all of them and didn't respect hte formatting types of the fonts that were pasted from word. It seems to do a slightly better job when pasting from web pages. If I type directly and format they are fine. It's the copy+paste that's an issue. Do you find this valuable?

Note, during some testing, this seems to be worst when pasting data copied from any application in Office 2007 (especially Word / i'm on vista). When I use XP and Office 2003 it seems to be respect the fonts better. Pasting from websites (where obviously html exists) there seems to be better. Not sure if that info is helpful but throwing it out there. Do you find this valuable? |

Thanks for the research! Each application (Word 2003, Word 2007, IE, Firefox, etc.) will store the copied content slightly differently on the clipboard. Most importantly, they will treat differently how a paste creates the HTML as it inserts that content into a web page. We err on the side of stripping unrecognized instructions, which is why you'll most likely see the content as a default. We'll definitely look at what Office 2007 is doing when it pastes content and see if we can't extend our support for that. Do you find this valuable? |
