Hi, I hope you can help us. We are a group of people with Parkinson's (PWPs) who have been working on developing a wikipedia-like site for all information relevant to Parkinson's (please see our wetpaint site, www.AllThingsParkinsons.wetpaint). Our hope is that ultimately we will be able to develope a community of 10,000s users, contributors and editors; but until I found Wetpaint, we could not find a user friendly wiki platform, and many of the folks in the Parkinson's community cannot nor would not be able to struggle with a mark-up language. So, I was very happy to find Wetpaint. It looks as if it will help us make this significant project happen. BUT I am having trouble with the navigation menu -- setting it up so that its structure reflects the logic of our unique, very complex site. Would you be able to help us with this specific problem? Thanks much, DJEPhD Do you find this valuable?

Hello,

Wow - your initiative and your goal sounds really very interesting. I support you in this effort and journey to create a home for your content. I think you will find that Wetpaint is a one of a kind social publishing platform with the tools necessary to let everyone contribute.

I'd be happy to look into the navigation issue/questions that you have. Can you give me more specifics? If I personally do not have the answers, then I will find someone here that does.

Can you share the details of your site with me and what it is you are trying to achieve?

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks,

Thanks, Bo, for getting back to me. Jeremy C. did also, and I responded to him with:

Hi Jeremy,
My navigation menu concerns are these: first, the menu functions automatically to place titles in outline form, so I have no "manual" control. Second, the outline into which Wetpaint places our headings does not always reflect the logical organizational structure we would like to have in place, e.g., for some pages, which follow others and are therefore made to look like a subclass of the previous page's topic, we might want to indicate their conceptual parity with the previous page by placing the title directly and fully underneath the previous page, rather than having it indented, which suggests the new page is a conceptual subgroup. Those are my immediate concerns. I have other concerns as well, which involve administration of the site, technical questions of how to do things, and so on. Right now, though, my main concern is with the menu, since being able to set that up as we would like, amounts essentially to mapping our our site, which in turn will allow us to identify and dedfine better the questions and issues we will need help with.

I think you'll be able to get a good sense of our larger goals if you read our Home and About Us pages,

Thank you for your help.
David
